A new series of the successful CBeebies show Andy’s Prehistoric Adventures is the latest production to begin filming at The Bottle Yard Studios.
The third series of the popular show, which will comprise 25 episodes, is produced by the BBC’s world-renowned Natural History Unit, and is a co-commission from CBeebies in the UK and BBC Worldwide for the international CBeebies channels. Filming begins this week for 16 weeks.
Using footage from the BBC’s archive, Andy’s Prehistoric Adventures utilises the latest digital CGI and green-screen technology to see presenter Andy Day go on a jaw-dropping journey into prehistoric times. The team is utilising 10,000 sq. ft. of production space, half of which is being used for green screen equipment, the other half for set building.
Series Producer Adam Oldroyd says: “We’re delighted to be bringing Andy’s Prehistoric Adventures to The Bottle Yard Studios. As a BBC Bristol production it’s great to have a studio here in the city, with the facilities, expertise and space to allow us to fully realise such a complex and ambitious series.”
Fiona Francombe, Site Director of The Bottle Yard Studios, says: “This is the first children’s TV production we’ve hosted so it’s really exciting for us to welcome Andy’s Prehistoric Adventures to The Bottle Yard Studios. It has given us the opportunity to develop another part of our site into an impressive green screen studio for them. We are able to add a new genre to our portfolio, whilst providing a Bristol home for an important show that’s commissioned out of Bristol, and uses the best in local crew and companies. It’s great to be able to forge even closer ties between The Bottle Yard and the BBC at Whiteladies Road.”
Andy’s Prehistoric Adventures is a continuation of the highly popular Andy’s Wild Adventures & Andy’s Dinosaur Adventures strand. This time Andy will not only be meeting a whole new cast of incredible dinosaurs, but also some of the prehistoric animals that followed in their footsteps, including the giant woolly mammoth and the ferocious sabre toothed cats.
