Boosting skills on the set of Sky Atlantic’s Fortitude

It was an exciting and inspirational day for a group of young Bristol students last week, who took part in a unique skills experience on the set of Sky Atlantic’s Fortitude, made possible thanks to behind the scenes access granted by production company Fifty Fathoms.

17 year old boomsatsuma students Laylah, Oli, Isaac, Victoria, Genaya, Scott and Chloe (above) gained valuable insight into what goes into a major TV shoot, observing the working set environment and filming general activity. They also learnt more about different roles within a production team, recording interviews throughout the day with Andrew Wood (Producer), Kieron Hawkes (Director), Callum Devrell-Cameron (Assistant Producer), Paul Spriggs (Production Designer), key cast Luke Treadaway and Mia Jexen, plus camera, sound, makeup, costume, unit photography and publicity departments. The films they go on to edit will form part of their boomsatsuma Film & TV Production Diplomas.

The students also met with and interviewed Mayor of Bristol Marvin Rees, who asked them about their ambitions for the future, and talked about Bristol’s commitment to widening access to TV & film education and work experience to young people from all backgrounds across the city.
